Item description
CE marking means conformity to the European Directive and not to the European Standards. But to be sure the product complies with the Directive; it is easier if it is made according to the harmonized standards referring to the Directive. Certification is understood to mean that a neutral and independent body confirms the conformity of products to certain standards. It is affixed on the product concerned itself or on the packaging by the manufacturer or his authorized agent. It does not have any fixed color. If several Directives providing for the CE-marking apply to one and the same product, the application of the CE-marking indicates conformity with all applicable Directives. The CE-marking does not prohibit the application of other marks provided such marks are causing confusion with the CE-marking.
The purpose of the CE marking regime is to facilitate the implementation of the Single European Market by removal of technical barriers to trade within Europe, such as national approvals and compulsory use of national test standards and test institutes. If you manufacture and/or put on the market products covered by harmonized European standards or European Technical Assessments, CE marking applies to you. The CE-marked product can therefore cross national borders more easily, and compliance with national legislations, such as building codes, can be conveniently demonstrated based on the declared values.
Benefits of CE Marking:-
•The CE marking is mandatory and must be affixed before any product subject to it is placed on the market and put into service, save where specific directives require otherwise.
•Where products are subject to several directives, which all provide for the affixing of the CE marking, the marking indicates that the products are presumed to conform to the provisions of all these directives.
•A product may not be CE marked, unless it is covered by a directive providing for its affixing.
The CE mark shows that the construction product will enable the finished construction works such as a home or school to comply with the Construction Products Regulation requirements (called Basic Works Requirements) of:
•Mechanical resistance and stability
•Safety in case of fire
•Hygiene, health and environment
•Safety & accessibility in use
•Protection against noise
•Energy economy and heat retention
•Sustainable use of natural resources
CE markings were originally designed for national market surveillance and enforcement authorities, rather than specifies and consumers. CE marking in order to be able to fully safeguard the interests of their clients and to protect their own potential liability. CE marking is a symbol that the product has met a harmonized standard.
