Cairo University (CU) commenced its educational journey in 1908 as a private institution, later gaining university status in 1954. Notably, the university initiated its medicine program as early as 1827. The Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University is closely affiliated with the esteemed Qasr El Eyni Hospital, serving as Cairo city's premier research and teaching hospital. Furthermore, CU Egypt holds institutional accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt.

Since 1898, Cairo University Egypt has been pivotal in providing education to diverse student cohorts, adopting the English language in the School of Medicine under the influence of British culture. Referred to as the “Kasr Alainy” School of Medicine, University of Cairo, the institution presently accommodates over 22 Institutes and Faculties, catering to a student body exceeding 150,000.

The MBBS program in Egypt spans a total of 7 years, encompassing 5 years of theoretical study and 2 years of practical internship within hospitals. This comprehensive program structure includes a one-year general internship followed by a one-year specialized internship.
