"Dhaka Medical College (DMC) holds the distinction of being Bangladesh's inaugural medical college, established on July 10, 1946. The original DMC building dates back to the pre-partition era of Bengal, constructed before the division in 1905. At present, Bangladesh hosts a total of 37 Government and 72 private medical colleges offering MBBS programs to both local and international students. These medical colleges are affiliated with seven universities across the country, with four being Government universities and the remaining three being private institutions. Under the purview of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Government of Bangladesh, these universities conduct professional examinations in accordance with established guidelines and norms.
The regulatory oversight for MBBS programs in Bangladesh falls under the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC). It is mandatory for all medical colleges in the country to be affiliated with the BM&DC, which operates under the strict supervision of the Ministry of Health and the BM&DC."
