Item description
Hearing abilities in human beings are one of the essential senses of the body. But people take it lightly until they experience some health disorders affecting it. Most hearing problems arise due to the ageing factor. But some accidents or injuries can also trigger hearing concerns.
However, most people neglect the initial signs of hearing disorders. Hence, it leads to significant problems and complete hearing loss. In such cases, treatment becomes more complex, and the scope of improvement deteriorates. In many cases, the patients have hearing issues from birth itself. To understand and resolve those kinds of problems, we have to introduce Newborn Hearing Screening.
Newborn screening and diagnosis help ensure all babies who are deaf or hard of hearing are identified as soon as possible. Then, they can receive early intervention services that can make a big difference in their communication and language development which is done at our hearing aid clinic.
Babies may respond to noise by startling or turning their heads toward the sound, for example. But this doesn’t necessarily mean they can hear all the sounds around them and everything we say. Babies who are deaf or hard of hearing may hear some sounds but still not hear enough to understand spoken language.
The goal is for all babies to have a newborn hearing screening by one month of age, ideally before they go home from the hospital; identified by three months of age and enrolled in early intervention or treatment, if identified as deaf or hard of hearing, by the period of 6 months.
